What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Websites use them to keep you signed in, to remember choices and, on some sites, to measure visits or show advertising. Browsers also offer similar storage, which this policy also covers.

02

What we use, and what needs your consent

If we ever add analytics or marketing storage, it will stay off until you agree, and we will update this policy first.

CategoryWhat it doesDo we use it?

Your choices

  • The first time you visit, a notice asks you to choose. Reject, customise and accept are equal buttons. Nothing optional is switched on beforehand, and you can use everything whichever you choose.
  • We remember your choice in one cookie, olp_consent, for 180 days. It is shared across the Olympus websites and apps on olympuspay.co, so you choose once. After 180 days, or if the list below changes, we ask again.
  • You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from “Cookie settings” on the sign-in pages and in your company menu. Switching a category off also deletes what it stored on this device.
  • We honour the Global Privacy Control signal from your browser: it keeps optional storage off unless you choose to switch it on.
  • To show what you agreed to and when, we keep a record of each choice: a random identifier, your choices, the version of this policy, the time, the page you were on, a one-way hash of your IP address and your browser type. It is used only for this purpose and kept for three years.

Everything this site stores

Strictly necessary items do not need your consent, because without them you could not sign in or keep your choice. We do not use them for advertising or to follow you across other websites.

Pages run by other companies

Some pages are run by payment providers, for example a hosted checkout page. They can set their own cookies under their own policies, and we do not control them. We ask our providers to keep to the same minimum.

06

Controlling storage in your browser

  • Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear site storage in their settings.
  • If you block the necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in, and we will not be able to remember your choice.
  • Without your agreement to functional storage, the app still works, but it will not remember your appearance, bookmarks or dismissed tips, and the help chat forgets the conversation when you close the page.

07

The rules we follow

Where the law requires your consent for storing information on your device, we ask for it first. That includes Botswana’s Data Protection Act, South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and UK GDPR, and the EU ePrivacy rules and GDPR, depending on where you are. Storage that is strictly necessary to give you a service you asked for does not need consent. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting what happened before.
